Boxed up cakes in the window, freshly baked pies on the counter, assorted cakes stocking the refrigerated case, Sweet Lady Jane decided at the last minute to soft open today on Montana. Yes yes, that official grand launch celebration still follows on December 3. Here now the first interior photos, check out the Preen-designed (Hatfield's, Akasha) space, a handful of marble-topped bistro tables line the wall along 17th, and looking through the window, one can see another row of parallel outdoor tables. Hanging orange lights in the shape of a flower add a hint of color to the white walls and painted brick, this new larger bakery feels quite a bit more polished than the 20+ year original on Melrose. Anyone looking to score last minute Thanksgiving desserts, this is your spot, savories start soon.
