After an odd location swaparoo and a quick build-out, the cheffing brother and sister team of Leo and Natalie Curie launched the second branch of Mexican seafood joint El Coraloense on Monday. Instead of the smaller, previously announced locale, El Coraloense took over for Tacos Los Gordos on Lakewood Boulevard. Leo, fresh off a stage at the Montage Laguna, oversees a Sinaloan/Nayarit hybrid Mexican seafood menu consisting of more than 15 ceviches tostadas, as well as five varieties of carmarones marinados, including one named "911" for its heat. Meanwhile, the original El Coralense location in Bell Gardens has undergone an interior revamp, and carries more specials such as blood clams and fresh scallop ceviche.
