The word's finally out: Ray Garcia, who left FIG in Santa Monica a few months ago to pursue his own projects, is now opening a new concept somewhere in Downtown's South Park. Though neither the chef nor his representatives will confirm at the moment where the exact location will be, the hard money is betting on the former Rivera space.
John Sedlar closed his five year old restaurant at the end of December to open another project somewhere in Santa Fe, New Mexico, though Sedlar promises to open something else again in Los Angeles.
In the meantime, Garcia is very close to signing a deal that will bring his talents to nearby Staples Center for the first time. Garcia spend time training at both Cyrus in Sonoma and The French Laundry, before helming the kitchen at FIG for years.
