Westside poke palace Sweetfin is headed for its next expansion opportunity, setting up shop right in the heart of Westwood’s college corridor. Though the space is still coming together, signage is up and the restaurant is actively hiring for the new location.
Sweetfin’s expansion plans have been well-known for some time now, with the company announcing earlier this year that they would be looking to push into a number of new areas in Southern California, including Larchmont and The Village at Westfield Topanga.
The Santa Monica original location is itself only a year old, but immediately caught on with locals there looking for a healthier, inexpensive lunch option — all things that should serve them well in their new Westwood Boulevard address.
Overall, poke continues to make inroads throughout Los Angeles, as more and more shops pop up with alarming regularity. Of course Sweetfin has a couple of things going for it that most others don’t: mega-restaurateur Alan Nathan (Estrella) and Top Chef contestant Dakota Weiss, who have broader hopes to take their fast casual concept national in the not-too-distant future. For now, they’ll have to settle for Westwood, which should be arriving in a matter of weeks.
