The Point in El Segundo has been up and running for a while now, landing big names like Hopdoddy, Smitten Ice Cream, and North Italia. By just about every metric the reimagining of the outdoor shopping plaza has been a success — and the inbound arrival of Craft Shack should only help.
Until now, the Simmzy’s team behind Craft Shack have been comfortable keeping details close to their vest. The new casual concept has always planned to keep a sort of indoor-outdoor feel, but until the above rendering was revealed it was unclear just how much of that seating (read: essentially all) would be out under the sun.
Consider Craft Shack to be an upscale version of a boardwalk stand, akin to what Brian Huskey is doing in Newport Beach with Tackle Box. The Simms Restaurant Group wants to up the offerings from the usual mushy hot dogs and chips though, debuting a menu of burgers, sandwiches, salads, and quesadillas. They’ll also be doing a full bar, including lots of craft beer and wine.
The space, designed by SF Jones, seats 70 across 850 square feet and comes with teak touches and an outdoor shower for those coming right from the sand. The plan is to serve lunch through dinner daily from 11 a.m. to late (9 p.m. weeknights, 10 p.m. weekends). There’s no official timetable on when the place will open, but expect something by mid-summer.
