A few interesting items have landed in our inbox over the last few days, so we're tipping the bag over and dumping everything on the floor. Got something to say? Eschew paper cuts for some inbox love.
(1): "G Garvins was replaced by a Katsu-ya owned sushi bar? Drove by last night (8620 3rd St.) and didn't catch the actual name. It was closed for a private party." We don't think it's a Katsu-ya-owned spot or SBE. But we'll take suggestions. [Eater Mail Bag]
(2): A reader forwarded the newsletter for half-priced food night at Dolce Enoteca (Mondays) and then asked, "Doesn't this qualify them as DeathWatch?" Hmmm...on the surface, yes. It does. Plus, the Dolce Group is about to open Ketchup on the Strip. But we haven't been there forever. Anyone else? [Eater Mail Bag]
(3): The news about Gotham Hall's closing left us questioning its replacement. From a fan: "I was one of those (maybe the only one) who (really) loved that place. Living in Santa Monica was hard and now it will become harder without a place to play pool and listen to a Britney remix from 2003. Thank god I moved to NYC. Gotham Hall will soon become a Forever 21." [Eater Mail Bag]
(4): More Third Street Promenade goss: "Every day I walk by the future site of Monsieur Marcel's Santa Monica expansion into one of the small buildings in the middle of the 3rd street promenade. For such a small space, its been under construction for quite a while. Any word on how much longer until opening?" [Eater Mail Bag]
(5): This is the third request we've recieved on this subject: "We are wondering what happened to Fairfax institution Eat A Pita?it’s been shuttered now for a couple weeks, which seemed to happen all of the sudden." Someone also asked big brother Curbed. [Eater Mail Bag]
We'll do some digging for answers to these and other Restaurant Riddlers, but we'll happily accept candy from strangers, too.
