EaterWire: Pinot Grill and Edward Albee, Ghetto Gourmet Back in LA, Pshaw's Sold, the O.C. Gay Exodus
Wednesday, February 28, 2007

· In reference to the inaugural Eater Complaints Dept. complaint about the Pinot Grill downtown, a reader responds: "What does that guy at patina grill [sic] expect to have happen when he takes his parents to see Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" The insider theater joke is almost lost on us, but we think it came from Bruce Vilanch—really—so it's damn funny. He continues, "I just love the idea of that guy sitting having a tasteful meal with his parents and then going to see george and martha scream fuck you at each other for three hours." [EaterWire Inbox]

· If you think sceney restaurants with known menus and planned dining guests is plain tired, then you'll be happy to know that Oakland's underground supper club, Ghetto Gourmet, will be holding its not-so-secret-anymore dinners in Los Feliz, Silver Lake, Culver City, and Hollywood in March. [EaterWire Inbox]

· More casual eateries coming to Sunset: "Remember the PShaw's Bistro on the 2nd floor of that mini-mall at the NE corner of Sunset & Gower, just south of the Roscoe's? Used to be open mostly on Fridays and Saturdays and Sunday brunch, yet was used for catering the balance of the week. Well, finally sold and will open as Sunset Bar & Grill. Should be interesting whether a b&g on the 2nd floor will make it, especially across from eat on Sunset which is trying to grab that market as well." [EaterWire Inbox]

· What's happening to the gay scene in Orange County? First the brouhaha over the Boom Boom Room, then Woody's at the Beach, and now we hear that "even Hamburger Mary's in Newport Beach is being sold." [EaterWire Inbox; OC Register]
