The Shutter: Hollywood & Vine Closed
Monday, July 16, 2007
If we weren't so blinded by super Mario and Top Chef Tom coming to town, surely Hollywood and Vine would've been on the Deathwatch. The last time we went to the restaurant was before a show at the Pantages, and the place was packed; after the show, crickets. We recieved word from a few readers: "Went by restaurant yesterday and they are in fact closed for business. Looks like they left everything as is, but locked the doors and put signs up in window. According to a nearby restaurant, they closed July 1st." We called the listed number to confirm, but no answer. Another reader hears a sports bar is going in, but that's unconfirmed for now. Construction on the Lofts at Hollywood and Vine kept the building shrouded in scaffolding for months, or has it been years? That couldn't have been good for business. Katsuya going in across the street could've felt like a nail in the coffin. The adjacent Vine Street Lounge closed in the beginning of this year, after two renovations in as many years. 1 + 1 + = Shutter.
