Gelato Bar, 6/19/07

STUDIO CITY: Gail Silverton, yes Nancy's sister, celebrates the first anniversary of her Gelato Bar with freebies all day. This morning is free coffee until noon, and later it's free 'bambini size' gelato from 3pm to 9pm. Silverton's gelato is really quite good and creamy; it was the only thing to get the Pinkberry taste out of our mouths in June. [4342 1/2 Tujunga Blvd., 818.487.1717]

BEVERLY HILLS: The Cupcake War of Little Santa Monica Boulevard officially starts today. Crumbs Bake Shop opens at 1pm, according to Caroline. But you might want to wait until Thursday when the first 1,000 customers gets free cupcakes. Free. Cupcakes. After today, Crumbs will open at 8am during the week, and 9am on the weekends. [9465 S. Santa Monica Blvd., 310.550.9811]

Been to Crumbs and tasted three already--carrot, reeses p-nut butter and coconut. All Good! Larger than Sprinkles. I think the cake may not be as moist as Sprinkles but the frosting and other "stuff" makes them better. In my opinion.
