SILVER LAKE: A reader queries: "For years the nondescript building on the southwest corner of Silverlake Boulevard and London has been fronted by one of those aggressive Spanish-language insurance agency signs. Well, that sign came down awhile ago and afterward some work was done to brighten up the building (new paint/greenery). Next came signage for what I thought was a new Ecuadoran/Italian eatery "now serving lunch and dinner" called El Caserio. But via Google I found a two- year-old CityBeat review of the place, except its address is nearby on 309 N. Virgil. So I guess what I'm wondering is if you fine folks at EaterLA know if this is a brand new place or if the existing El Caserio has simply relocated to fresher digs." To cut to the chase: Yes, El Caserio opened a second location about 10 days ago. It is Ecuadorian and Italian, and it's open every day but Monday, 11am-11pm. [401 Silverlake Blvd., 213.273.8945]

ATWATER VILLAGE: Viet Noodle Bar, an offshoot of Silverlake's Soy Cafe opened today. According to Daily Candy: "the decor is simple: white walls, two long, communal tables, and books piled high along a shelf that runs the length of the room." WESTWOOD: Somehow we missed this (especially since we came across three emails about it...sorry!), but Pitfire Pizza opened in Westwood a couple months ago, in the old Westwood Country Mart across from Wally's. They're pulling out all stops to get people in the door: We got an email today with a coupon for buy-one-get-one-free entree between 11am-6pm daily. [2018 Westwood Blvd, 310.481.9860]
