GLENDALE: Patina Group alum Octavio Becerra will open Palate in the former Cinnabar space on Brand Boulevard in February. The focus is small plates, market-driven, wine-friendly cuisine. He split a pig with Fred Eric, which is a very good sign. Plans include an adjacent wine tasting room and store in March. [EaterWire Inbox]

VENICE: A new wine shop called Elvino is coming to Abbot Kinney. The owners had some zoning issues and sat idle for a few months, but now it looks like everything's moving forward. The owners officially filed for a wine license, and our tipster muses: "Should be interesting to see just how many the hood will allow in." [Yo! Venice/EaterWire Inbox]
