Staffers saying they haven't been paid, allegations that there's no public record from the health department, that the owner is "stealing electricity" from the power grid (note the "electrical issues" that shuttered the restaurant), that there was no hot water in the restaurant. The rumors swirling around Mode, the Fashion District 24-hour wannabe French restaurant that barely opened and then closed last week, are getting fierce. And so far, even Mode's PR firm hasn't heard from owner Tony Jones. Not looking good. A Deathwatch without the stamp, for sure.
