No Crobar for Hollywood?
Monday, March 3, 2008

We're still awaiting so many Hollywood debuts, but have we already hit the tipping point? Metromix reports that Crobar is unplanning to open at the former Fox Theater on Hollywood Boulevard. It was only a year ago that the Chicago-based chain announced plans to dump $5 million into the property to bring their special brand of dance-party nightlife to LA. Rumor is they now want to dump it for $4 million.**** Something works for Crobar---Chicago celebrates its 16th anniversary this month, and there are locations in Miami, Buenos Aires and Lebanon---just not Hollywood?

***UPDATE**** The Guide reported in November that Crobar as Crobar wasn't going to open, but the owners still intend a 12,500-square-foot multi-purpose nightclub at the Fox. The full story on Wednesday, but we know this much so far: Vinokur's club is confirmed, it will be designed by iCrave, and will open in September with a new name.
