The Fast Food Moratorium that was approved in committee last week goes to the City Council today. The story has blown up---it's been covered everywhere in the media---because people are fascinated that a government plans to stop obesity by keeping a McDonald's from opening in a neighborhood but allowing a Subway or Souplantation. California Restaurant Association spokesman Andrew Casana says the moratorium, which could be extended up to two years, is misguded: Fast food "is the only industry that wants to be in South LA. Sit-down restaurants don't want to go in. If they did, they'd be there...What's next...security guards at the door saying 'You're overweight, you can't have a cheeseburger'?"
