Just a few weeks ago there was finally some development in the former Luce space at the corner of Canon and Dayton in Beverly Hills, which was until recently called Gitano, a joint venture for Giacomino and Tanino Drago (Gi-Tano, get it?). But now the restaurant is called Via Alloro because "gitano" in Italian means "gypsy," which wasn't particluarly fitting. Giacomino tells Black Book that it will have a seafood focus ("like whole fishes"), an Enomatic wine system, large patio out front. The chef de cuisine is Valentino alum, Giacomo Pettinari. Should everything go well, they'll open for private events during the holidays and to the public in January.
