Welcome to this week's Report of Ply. See something transforming into something else in your 'hood? Let us in on it.
Santa Monica: Opening within the next week is Fifth Amendment Alehouse. The German-themed sausage house and bar created by Daniel Petrovich and Eden Noe will serve 20 beers on tap including Stone Pale Ale, Arrogant Bastard, Chimay White, Racer 5 IPA, Delirium Tremens, Allagash White, Allagash Curieux, Duchesse de Bourgogne, plus 12 others. Brentwood: After Coral Tree Cafe closed from a fire last September, owners estimated a January reopening with several changes (seat area renovated, more benches in patio, new indoor fireplace, seasonal dinner menu). After many months, construction has finally begun, this time minus the outdoor signage projecting the estimated launch. [PLYWOOD]
Manhattan Beach: Coming to a nearby coastal city is Tin Roof Bistro slated to debut July 27. Conceived by Chris Simms, brother Mike, and chef Anne Conness (owners of Simmzy's), the trio hired Hatch Design to create a tin-paneled ceiling, a 20-foot mahogany bar and an open kitchen clad with an oak-burning pizza oven, all inspired by the NorCal Wine Country. As for food, Anne will implement an American menu that is 'masterful in its creativity and simplicity with no hint of pretension.' [Food GPS]
