In 2008 Fraiche partners Thierry Perez and Jason Travi expanded from Culver City to Santa Monica with their sophomore effort, Riva. Riva wasn't the pride and joy they hoped and about a year later the venue morphed into a second outpost of Fraiche. Meanwhile, earlier that year Perez split, then Travi split, leaving both restaurants in new hands. And now, almost two years later, the restaurant is for sale. Actually, Fraiche in Santa Monica has been on the market for quite some time, says a source from the restaurant. Remember wayyy back in December when Sam Nazarian thought about taking over the property? That deal got botched, but Fraiche SM has been for sale since before then. And, on the subject of a shutter, don't anticipate one until the business has been sold. But why isn't it selling? [EaterWire]
