While The Six is headed to Venice, don't expect much action until next year. Partner Jake King says that "at the moment, we are still waiting for the developer to get city approvals and the location is new construction so it's going to take time. Our current location on Pico has really grown and it is our goal to expand into a new market every year." Which brings us to Studio City and the long-shuttered space formerly known as Risotto across from Jerry's Deli. King, along with partner Will Karges, plan to open a second outpost of The Six here in mid-October. The concept is mostly the same as the West LA original, but the Studio City locale affords them a large outdoor dining area on the hillside off Ventura between Coldwater Canyon and Laurel Canyon.
And, a few months ago, the twosome hired a corporate chef to oversee foodstuffs at all locations. Sean Mindrum, formerly Mustards in Napa and Wolfgang Puck's Postrio in Vegas, joins the group to finesse The Six's simple, seasonal fare.
