Further to the story earlier this month that Chicago chef Bill Kim was looking to open a restaurant in LA but would first hold a pop-up, here now those details. Eater Chicago reports that Kim, who owns Urbanbelly and Belly Shack, both in Chi-Town, hits LA on September 17 with Belly Pop. Kim takes to the stove at the newly opened Daily Dose downtown from 5-8PM and this temporary dining engagement is in collaboration with the launch of sister-in-law Yasmina Cadiz's new shoe line, ToeJamm Shoes.
Customers can expect favorites from his two Chicago restaurants like the Belly Dog and togarashi fries with curry mayo, plus new additions inclusive of lamb and brandy dumplings. The best part of this whole scenario is that admission to the pop-up is free and will be capped around 100 people so be sure to RSVP.
As for that LA restaurant, Kim is still scouting locations, but said Downtown LA is the perfect area for him to play.
