Just last month came word that David Haskell (Bin 8945) had signed on to open a new restaurant in Culver City with couple Farid Zadi (Ecole de Cuisine) and his wife Susan Park. The trio have since picked both a name and a space, Eat. Good. Clean. Food. will open in the former Cake Divas home on Venice Blvd.
The restaurant itself is divided into three sections: the two front rooms will offer prepared foods for takeaway with some cafe seating, an alcove in the center will be reserved for a butcher and charcuterie area, and the enclosed patio out back will serve as a space for private dining, special events, that king of thing. Guests will also be able to purchase bottles of wine to take home but only after the liquor and retail license has been acquired.
So, the building that houses Eat. Good. Clean. Food. actually has a second kitchen that, right now, is rented to a caterer. When that lease is up in a few months, Zadi plans to use that area for Ecole de Cuisine's culinary arts and pastry arts program. So, yeah, a restaurant and cooking school all in one.
As for the launch, that front section of Eat. Good. Clean. Food. with the prepared foods and such will soft open this weekend serving American diner meets French brasserie-inspired lunch fare from 11AM-6PM. Think comfort foods made from high quality base ingredients and more refined cooking technique. Then breakfast and dinner service will roll out in October.
