A quick update on Simon Hammerstein’s forthcoming The Box: Vegas. Though originally slated for a New Years launch, sources close to the project say that the 8,500 square foot nightclub will delay its opening until early next year. Though late, the venture is definitely not moth-balled. In fact, word on the street is that Hammerstein has partnered with Jon Newton’s VV Ventures (First Food & Bar and the defunct David Burke in the Shops at The Palazzo).
In other Sin City news, the New York institution Grimaldi’s Pizza is continuing its national expansion this time with not one, but two locations on the Vegas strip. The first is scheduled to open in early December at the Fashion Show Mall and the second will debut in the first quarter of next year in the Shops at The Palazzo next to Emeril’s Table 10. Apparently the buildout is complete and management is waiting on a coal-fired oven.
