Aha, and here it is! After a couple different concept changes, Roy Choi (Kogi, Chego, A-Frame) has renamed Beechwood into Sunny Spot, a new tropical fusion cookshop opening November 18 at 5PM. The menu reads like A-Frame on vacation, still bold and bright flavors, and dishes in which utensils are sometimes optional. Sugar cane fried pigs feet with chili vinegar; charred squid with passion fruit, coconut, chili, and mint; yuca fries; pickled dragon fruit; tomato ginger jam two fisted burger; and a ding dong for dessert. Brian Butler of A-Frame has worked up this boozy bar list in which rum takes center stage through creations like Air Mail (Barbados rum, hibiscus, lime, Champagne), Imperial Fizz (Rye, Jamaican rum, Angostura, egg-white, lemon), and San Juan Sling (White Rum, Benedictine, cherry brandy, lime). As per usual, juices are freshly squeezed and drinks are meant to pair with food.
