Though still a work in progress, San Diego's Burger Lounge plans to open (most likely) this coming Monday. Located on the ground floor of the same strip mall on Sunset at Alta Loma that houses Sushi Park and Joe's Pizza, Burger Lounge introduces a green, sustainably-farmed meat-centric operation into a part of town mostly devoid of burgers. Founder Dean Loring built the six location SoCal chainlet (BL WeHo is restaurant seven) on the slogan “We do a common thing uncommonly well,” and in this case that translates to upscale comfort food crafted from mostly wholesome, organic ingredients. Grass-fed beef is locally sourced, and burgers are topped with simple ingredients so as not to mask the beef's flavor.
Other than burgers, one will find salads, sides, milkshakes, craft beer, and vino on offer. For those who avoid meat, Burger Lounge serves a quinoa veggie burger and a salmon burger.
As for eco-friendly initiatives, Burger Lounge is actually a Certified Green Restaurant which means it has met strict requirements in areas such as energy efficiency, packaging, sustainable ingredients and recycling. Hours of operation will run Sun-Thu, 10:30AM-11PM; and Fri-Sat, 10:30AM-3AM. Free parking is offered in the garage beneath the restaurant.
