Wine guy David Haskell (Bin 8945) has been off the map since he parted ways with Farid Zadi and Susan Park of Eat.Good.Clean.Food. (now operating as Café Livre) last September, but as of this summer he's set to open The Colonial Wine Bar with Carolyn and Mary Anne Reyes (Mandalay Restaurant, The Pearl Cocktail Lounge) in the space that currently operates as year-old TiroVino, and before that All' Angelo.
Consulting executive chef Alex Ageneau (Bistronomics, The Royce) is part of the launch team and his Mediterranean influenced menu thus far involves Mushroom & Grilled Corn Risotto, Bone Marrow Croquettes & Gribiche Sauce, and Sea Urchin Bruschetta, Parsley & Peppers. Haskell, the self-professed wine pimp, is looking to capture the perfect pairing with each plate, be it wine, beer, or sake. Haskell says he wants "to bring food and wine pairing to another dimension." The Colonial is set to serve this summer.
