This is the final outcome of P'tit Soleil, the poutine palace of Luc Alarie, the individual also behind Soleil next door. With final inspections under his belt, Alarie is preparing to open this simple contemporary restaurant and bar tomorrow with a compendium of Quebecois plates alongside the requisite French fries topped with cheese curds and gravy. Some of the 10 plus constructions include Poutine du Prince Edward (mussels au gratin), Poutine Marat (filet mignon, mushrooms and a Cognac cream sauce), and Poutine Malik (Merguez sausage and a creamy Harissa sauce).
If you've ever wondered what a Canadian cocktail is, P'tit Soleil will tell you at its zinc bar. Think Dirty French Canadian (Crown Royal, Grand Marnier, Ginger Ale, Angostura bitters), Bloody Caesar (classic Bloody Mary with Clamaro, a tomato-clam juice), plus many Canadian wines and beers. Down the line anticipate a "Pajama Breakfast" where guests are invited to brunch ... in pajamas. That's happening.
