With Sycamore Kitchen down the street and a few other notable openings coming up this year, La Brea Boulevard between Beverly and Third is turning into a small village. Adding to the hip atmosphere, Brad Benson (Bourgeois Pig) and Guillermo Rolando softly opened their lofty coffee bar and art space, Graffiti, on Saturday. As promised, they are serving Intelligentsia coffee drinks behind the counter.
For now, the food offerings are limited to bites from Cake Monkey, though additional savory items are an option down the road. The former Sonora Cafe space has been gutted down to its cement foundation. The interior feels slightly industrial, but clean, with white floors and a monochrome color scheme. Opposite the coffee bar, the lounge area is outfitted with comfortable couches and a fireplace. Upstairs, find free wifi and plenty of additional seating in a gallery-like space. Music, more art, events and late night hours to come.
