Like many Angelenos, Jonathan Gold is deeply saddened to learn of Campanile's looming shutter. He states that chef and owner Mark Peel "is still the most exacting grill chef in the country," though Gold also acknowledges that when Peel and wife/partner Nancy Silverton split, "Campanile for the first time in its existence became an old reliable, the kind of place where you knew you could probably pop in on a Saturday night without much notice ..." Regardless, "Campanile, to its last day, remains one of the city's best, and I can hardly wait to see what Peel is planning to do next." [LAT, previously]
