Redwood Grille, the classic American replacement for Xino atop Santa Monica Place, is looking to open late June. This is another surf and turf hub that offers up all the usual suspects like artichoke spinach dip, Cobb salad, and a variety of fish and meat preps, and describes its ingredients using worlds like "fresh" and "premium."
Frankly, Redwood doesn't sound entirely dissimilar from another new American place coming to nearby Santa Monica, Del Frisco's Grille. But, what Redwood has over Del Frisco's is 6,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor rooftop dining, designed by Stephen Francis Jones of SFJones Architects (the old Spago, MB Post, Hamasaku). Founders George and Spiros Bozikis of Unique Hospitality (Baton Rouge at Eaton Centre in Toronto) plan to serve lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.
