James Beard nominee Eduardo Ruiz of Corazon y Miel is planning a sausage spot called Picnik in Pasadena, in the former 168 Restaurant in Old Town. Scheduled for a March 15 debut, the house-made sausages vary from chorizo to sweet Italian, reports the LA Times. The Wurstkuche-type environment will tout everything from craft beer on 20 taps, hand-cut fries, and even some veggie dishes like portobello sandwiches in an expansive patio. Unique also to Picnik is a dedication to sourcing, with all sausages made from a single-breed of pork supplied by Compart Family Farms and possibly even the lauded Cook's Ranch.
