South El Monte's Progress Brewing (née, Federal Brewing) has just signed a lease to grow into a neighboring space, with the intent to eventually triple beer production. Brewers are busily adding fermenting tanks, as well as a 1.5 barrel pilot brewing system, and hope to double their current output of 600 barrels per year within three weeks. The new 7,000 square foot facility, adjacent to the current building, will hold a significantly larger tasting room, a barrel aging setup, and the necessary space to accommodate the production increase, also leading to greater beer variety. By late summer, Progress will move its tasting room to the new building, which will also feature a sizeable outdoor beer garden. In the meantime, outside of its tasting room, Progress beers are available at Melody Lounge, Glendale Tap, Wolf and Crane, and Rose City Pizza. Sounds like SGV is getting its very own mini Golden Road. [EaterWire]
