Uh oh. Apparently there's going to be some competition for everyone's fried chicken attention this weekend. The much-hyped FoodGPS Fried Chicken Fest hits Chinatown's Central Plaza on Sunday, August 17 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., with pieces of bird coming from the likes of BadMaash, Eggslut, Free Range LA, Superba Food + Bread and more.
Now comes details of an International House of Fried Chicken pop-up on Saturday, August 16, at Blank Kitchen in Koreatown. Under the tutelage of chef Farid Zadi, who has been using the open kitchen space for some time now to generate his own pop-ups, this fried chicken face-off pits three different international styles of the dish. Fata Wijaya of Carb & Nation will be leading off with Indonesian-style fried chicken, followed by Susan Park of Yum Rice & Noodle Bar doing her best Korean fried chicken take.
Zadi will be continuing his trend of North African flavors, and each will be pricing their fried chicken by the piece. Hand-made sodas and specialty side dishes round out the cash-only menu, with the whole thing going down between 6:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. It's going to be one hell of a fried chicken weekend.
