Though the re-tooled concept and brand won't be called ROC, the team behind the Sawtelle dumpling and noodle purveyor has already landed three brick & mortar locations across the Westside and Mid-City. The first will likely open somewhere on West Third in a former Japanese eatery (any guesses?) with a debut some time in the Fall. The concept will remain similar to ROC, with a best-of selection of Chinese food favorites (the kind one might find strewn across places in SGV), like scallion pancakes, beef rolls, noodles, xiao long bao dumplings, and more.
The second shop will likely open in Playa Vista's The Runway complex some time in Winter 2014-2015. And finally, the last dumpling and noodle joint will open on the corner of Washington Blvd and Hughes in Culver City some time in Spring of 2015. Along with the Sawtelle original, the nearly open New Port Seafood and the already serving Meizhou Dongpo, it's a long time coming to see viable Chinese cuisine spread outside of San Gabriel Valley.
