Geisha House put some bold new Asian script on the side of their building (some commenters suggested it's Chinese, which is odd since it's a Japanese restaurant; another tipster said "it's Japanese, modern style trying to be old prose"), and we wanted you to translate the definition, real or imagined. We promised sake and/or glory for the best and correct answers, all just a click away.
A-ha! Now we understand why the Dolce Group paintedGeisha House red. It's serving as a palette for some sort of Japanese/Chinese verbage! A story, perhaps? Not really. We have the translation, but let's have some fun: Post what it says (or what you think it says) in comments, and the best and correct answers will be rewarded with our most prized possession from the Eater office---pure glory. Oh, OK, maybe we'll buy you a bottle of sake or something next time you see us at Geisha. We'll announce the truth and winners later.

· Two Is a Trend: Dolce Goes Red, Too [~ELA~]
The Geisha House painted red makes sense and fits Hollywood. But as noted by a reader and snapped thoroughly by one of our compadres, Dolce Enoteca on Melrose and Sweetzer is going from dirt brown to red. What...leftover paint from Geisha? The Dolce Group's new bold signature color? Dolce celebrates its fifth anniversary this year, maybe it was just time for something new. Or is that crazy Lonnie Moore/Mike Malin crew just trying to shock the neighborhood, circa 2005, when partygoers covered the building in graffiti? Oh, what a quirky bunch.

My goodness. Geisha House got a paint job within the last week, and it's shockingly red (at least during the daytime). Why the change? We can't get a direct answer from the Dolce Group, but the staffer that just answered the restaurant phone said: "Because it looks better?" Perhaps. Or, with so many spots about to open within a few blocks (Loteria Grill, The Kress, East), is it more like an angst-ridden teen calling out for attention? Either way: Red. RED.
