Not that we like to make light of a bad situation, but we're a little disappointed that our very first Deathwatch was so short-lived. We put BlackSteel on the Deathwatch in December when a friend tipped us off that it was closed. According to a note on OpenTable, it was closed "for special events" during the holidays. To us, that's prime DW material. Now it's official: The number is disconnected, the restaurant is off OpenTable completely, and the website is basically a portal for owner Chef J's cookware and cheesecake store. Dang, all that good Pamela Anderson-PETA publicity wasted. But this, folks, is how a Deathwatch becomes a ShutterWood.
