Ask—and ask again—and you shall receive. Behold Abode, which is currently under construction behind Tengu Santa Monica. The owners include former Anastasia's Asylum owner Anastasia Israel, Kelly Gleason, some "behind-the-scenes entertainment industry folks," and a few "former MySpace execs." After 14 years, Israel sold the funky Asylum in 2006—the space, furniture, fixtures, everything but the name—so the group could focus on this project. Expect "creative comfort cuisine," think artisanal, seasonal, sustainable ingredients, and cocktails. Organic ingredients on the plate, natural ingredients in the décor: The designers plan to use elements like rainforest and Calcutta marble in the bar (pictured), and raw travertine and reconstituted lumber in other areas. Look for a late-March opening.
