BLTWatch 'o7: NY Steakhouse Comes to the Strip This Summer

To continue with our celebrity-chefs-take-over-LA series, we have BLTWatch '07. Keep checking back for updates. Always remember: First pics win the prize. Send 'em if you got 'em.

This isn't breaking news anymore, but the media blitz officially began moments ago as our inbox was flooded with the press release for Laurent Tourondel's BLT Steak, which takes over the famed Le Dome space on the Sunset Strip this summer. Jimmy Haber, Managing Partner of BLT Management says, “Los Angeles is the ideal location for us to introduce our concept to the west coast as the city HAS BECOME (emphasis ours) a culinary destination with a sophisticated and discerning dining audience." So Batali thinks we're a "B" city, Tourondel thinks we're just now sophisticated for his brand of meat, Colicchio thinks he can grow pears: The New York chef's view of LA through a red-apple lens.

BLT Steak to open in Los Angeles:
A New York City Icon will Stake its Claim on Sunset Blvd

Los Angeles, January 2007- Acclaimed by Esquire Magazine in 2004 as one of “the best new restaurants in America,” BLT Steak will open its first West Coast outpost in the famed Le Dome space in Los Angeles.

“Los Angeles is the ideal location for us to introduce our concept to the west coast as the city has become a culinary destination with a sophisticated and discerning dining audience,” says Jimmy Haber, Managing Partner of BLT Management. “Le Dome was a legendary establishment in Los Angeles and we will strive to honor its legacy.”

BLT Steak has redefined the American Steakhouse, satisfying the epicure and neighborhood diner alike and becoming a household name in just three short years. “I created BLT Steak as a more modern steakhouse – one that focuses on the best product and the most exact techniques,” says Chef-Partner, Laurent Tourondel. “With access to some of the country’s top products, California is a natural fit for us.”

Designed by Michael Bagley, BLT Steak’s design will integrate the traditional elements of a steakhouse with a stylish, urbane design. BLT’s signature “blackboard” menu will be prominently featured, highlighting the menu offerings of the day.

Bistro Laurent Tourondel Steak, located at 8720 Sunset Blvd., will open in summer of 2007.
