After a 1,000-pound chunk of stucco fell off Encounter's iconic arches earlier this year, the LAX restaurant was forced to close for repairs. After eight long months, Encounter officially reopens on Thursday, November 15. Since the exterior needed work, the interior also got a new coat of paint and furniture (you could've owned a piece of the space-age past). The restaurant will be open for lunch daily, plus dinner Fri-Sat. Kind of a shame since the best time to see the place is at night.
