Intelligentsia promised to bring something unique to the LA coffee scene, and this Thursday, they'll have Hacienda la Esmeralda's "famed" Geisha coffee. For those of us who aren't coffee aficianados, it probably means nothing, but know this: They paid $130 per pound just to have it, the highest amount ever paid for coffee at auction. So it must be good. Try it yourself when they have an Esmeralda release party at the store. Snacks and wine, too, and it's free. The famed coffee, should you want to purchase it for home, is $99 for a half pound (!). (7pm; 3922 W. Sunset Blvd., Silver Lake, 323.663.6173) [Eaterwire]
