MARINA DEL REY: After the sudden departure of exec chef Frank Fronda and GM Laurie Pesce, Café del Rey moved swiftly to hire chef Jason Niederkorn to take over the reins. Niederkorn worked for the Domain Restaurants, Tim and Liza Goodell's group that includes the Red Pearl Kitchens and 25 Degrees and Dakota at the Roosevelt Hotel.[EaterWire Inbox]

HOLLYWOOD: Some restaurants will do anything to stay on the radar. Heidi Siegmund Cuda reports that Mark Wahlberg, yes Mr. Marky Mark himself, is hosting Delicous Mondays at Citizen Smith. We're not sure what makes Monday so delicious, but whatever. [LAT]

WEST HOLLYWOOD: A sugar-fixated reader was concerned about Sprinkles signage she spotted in West Hollywood: "Drove by the new location this morning. Right next door to Boule. Yuck. Dry. Sprinkles cupcakes taste like candied sawdust next to Boule's mouthwatering sweet treats." Turns out that Sprinkles is just the corporate office and bakery, not a retail shop. Simmer sweet-toothed tiger... simmer. [EaterWire Inbox]

DOWNTOWN: We keep hearing about all the big newbies downtown, but not the little guys. A recent report on the Colori Kitchen hit the inbox: "Just had lunch at this new place downtown at 429 W. 8th Street. What a great surprise. Fantastic Italian food. This is the best Italian food I have had in ages. I certainly did not expect to find it in a kinda seedy part of downtown LA." Shill factor: 98%, but there is some positive Yelp action, too. RANDOM: Just a little food for thought: This is disturbing for so many reasons. [Wireimage]
