EaterWire: Something's A-Brewin' at Yu, Catch Opening at Casa del Mar, Vito's Resurfaces

SANTA MONICA—After months of sitting idle since it closed last year, SBE's Yu Restaurant on Montana Avenue is finally seeing some action. An operative writes: "I don't have many details for you but... for months, the only change I noticed at Yu was a steady increase in the quantity of pigeon poop accumulating outside on the sidewalk. Today I walked by and noticed the shutters off the windows, chairs and tables in the parking long, action inside and a worker hosing off the sidewalk." Renovations? Finally?? [EaterWire Inbox]

SANTA MONICA—Oceanfront restaurant at Santa Monica's Casa del Mar is getting revamped—new look, new chef, new menu—to debut next Tuesday, March 20. Catch, as it will now be called, will have a mostly seafood menu, created by chef Michael Reardon who's come down from Hotel Andalucia, Casa's sister property in Santa Barbara. The ocean, beachfront and pier views from the hotel remain the same. [EaterWire Inbox]

WEST HOLLYWOOD—Even we would trek to Vito's in Los Feliz for what many considered to be the best NY-style pizza in LA. It was a blow to the pizza scene when it closed. In a similar blow (to Los Felizers, anyway) Vito's has reopened on La Cienega's Restaurant Row. Near Koi. Now the pizza really has to be worth it? [Chowhound]
