There's only one French dip sandwich in this town...at least for awhile. According to the LA Downtown News, Cedd Moses, the owner of some of downtown's most notable renovated bars (Broadway Bar, Golden Gopher), has taken possession of Cole's P.E. Buffet, the oldest operating restaurant in LA known for French dip sandwiches:

"We are developing plans for a renovation of this beloved place, including the installation of a new, modern kitchen," Moses said. "What will not change is the architecture, history and character of Cole's."

"We plan to give Philippe's a run for their money," said Moses, referring to Downtown's other famous French dip eatery.

We called Cole's this morning and found out it's already closed; the article says it will be under construction for "a few months."
