EaterWire: Charcoal Expansion?, Danny's Deli in Venice, Sushi of Naples Sold!

WEST HOLLYWOOD—A tipster saw a sign for Charcoal on Melrose, next to the Marc Jacobs store, and wondered if Michael Sutton and Adolfo Suaya are already opening a second location before the first one even opens. According to Sutton that's a big no, just a big marketing scheme. "We placed ads all over the city." [EaterWire Inbox]

VENICE—Danny's Deli in Venice Beach is in one of those doomed locations. A Hound took notice recently: "The new owners also own Canal Club and 26 Beach. They did a good job with the interior renovation, putting in high booths, wainscotting, and murals to create an early 20th century feel. There seems to be a lot of care put into the place, but last Friday night it was basically empty at 8:00." There are soft openings and then there are flaccid ones. [Chowhound]

PASADENA—A tipster sends word that Sushi of Naples in the 'Dena was sold off for around $1 million dollars. Dammit! That's our lazy-go-to sushi spot. We're not sure if the Long Beach location was included in this unconfirmed sale. [EaterWire Inbox]
