Plywood Report: Pink Taco in LA, Yummy Cupcakes in SM, Joan's on Third Expanding, Giraud's Brasserie

(1) Century City: Harry Morton will open his third outpost of the Mexican-themed, rock-and-roll-ish Pink Taco to the Century City Westfield Mall this June. With a vibe that lingers somewhere between a Hooters and a Hard Rock, imagine the glee of every CAA suit that they finally have a place to loosen their ties and giggle like school boys every time a server asks, "How's that panucho?" [Calendar Live]

(2) Mid City/Beverly Center: This spring, Joan's on Third will finally open the expanded space next door, basically tripling its size. We hear the "gourmet marketplace" will be adding a full breakfast menu, beer and wine, and some hot dinner items. Yes, there will finally be space to sit. [EaterWire]

(3) Santa Monica: Burbank's oh-so-secret cupcakery, Yummy Cupcakes, is opening a branch in Santa Monica (313 Wilshile Blvd.) in a few weeks. We can vouch for the red velvet. Mmm. Hopefully they'll bring the cupcake happy hour to SM: cupcakes spiked with booze. Two vices, one cupcake. [EaterWire]

(4) Santa Monica: We're not sure how the owners of hipster hot spots Falcon and Voda ended up in a partnership with ex-Bastide chef Alain Giraud, but the French brasserie the group will open in the 1929 Santa Monica "Crocker" Clock Tower building adjacent to the Third Street Promenade (225 Santa Monica Blvd.) will be one of the most anticipated in the fall. Zagat reports that the name "will likely nod to Giraud". [Zagat]
