Plywood Report: Downtown's Olivia, Urth Caffe, Seven Grand Whiskey Bar, plus 24-Hour Kitchen in Hollywood

It's either downtown or Hollywood these days. Downtown. Hollywood. Downtown. Hollywood. If you know of something opening anywhere else in LA, let us know. Ok, even if it's in downtown or Hollywood.

DOWNTOWN: The renovated Orchid Hotel will open at the end of April, and in it will be Olivia, a 60-seat Mediterranean tapas-influenced restaurant. Managing owner Jason hardy comes from Sushi Roku and Primitivo, and chef Corey Locker comes from Kyma in Washington D.C. Brick walls, dark wood tables, Matador art, a mezzanine, fireplace. In a few months, they'll open a 6,000-square-foot lounge on the first floor. [LA Downtown News]

DOWNTOWN: The celeb-magnet organic coffeehouse Urth Caffe will open its fourth outpost in the Barker Block lofts (510 Hewitt St.) in the Industrial District downtown. We don't know exactly when, but the lofts are slated for a July-ish debut. [LA Downtown News]

DOWNTOWN: Cedd Moses' 213 Ventures will finally debut Seven Grand Whiskey Bar downtown at the corner of, yep, you guessed it, Seventh and Grand this month. The group behind Golden Gopher and Broadway Bar presents plenty of whiskey, more than 200 kinds, and lots of deer heads. That latter has something to do with James Joyce. We reported (for another publication) last fall that it was opening in November. It's now April. That's about right. [LA.com]

HOLLYWOOD: We actually wondered what was happening next to Citizen Smith in Hollywood last time we drove down Cahuenga, and the Times tells us it's a 24-hour diner called Kitchen 24, designed by Kristofer Keith of Spacecraft Designs. Late-summer opening. [LAT]
