Branding is a cinch when you name a restaurant ONE. The one and only. One 'fantastic' experience. You're still the one. One is the lonliest number...oh...wait. The above postcard came to us via a reader (we apparently aren't on ONE's number one list), who isn't so sure ONE is the one for them: "In my opinion, this is all too much talk. It's like the bully in school who goes around talking about how he can beat everyone up. He's not the one to be scared of. It's the really tough quiet kid that will throw down when it comes to a fight. One Sunset is all bark and no bite." Ruff.
ONE is an ultra lounge with a varied menu, and the owners believe there's nothing like it in LA right now, that ONE is the place we've all been waiting for. The space looks swank, the menu sounds enticing, so we're sure ONE will be one of those places everyone goes to at least once. But novel? LA has plenty of restaurant-lounge concepts all over the city, some work, some don't. Still, we'll reserve judgment until ONE Sunset opens at the end of the month.
