Do You Need a Gimmick to Survive on the Strip?

While some parts of the Strip try to get serious (Bar Marmont, Tower Bar, and One Sunset to some degree, BLT Steak in the fall), others fall prey to the same old tricks. A new bar called Harlot opens next month in the space that held Wet and The Falls (both short-lived), bringing giant-sized cocktails and, we're assuming by the name, some sort of sex theme. As The Bar Code points out, Harlot will one-up The Beach on Sunset by serving 60-ounce drinks, as opposed to 50-ouncers at the former. So classy. As we've pointed out, sexy gimmicks don't always work, even (and surprisingly) on the Strip.
