SANTA MONICA: This doesn't come as much of a shocker: Scarboni New York Steak & Lobster House is kaput. In June we found a help wanted ad for servers at a new barbecue restaurant, and the address was Scarboni. We called to ask if the steakhouse was now a barbecue joint, and they were offended: "No, we're still open." Guess they didn't know what was coming. When Miss Irene reviewed Scarboni in January, we said she got "scarbonied." The critic hated everything about the place, and gave it a paltry half star. When was the last time we saw a half star? Scarboni, unfortunately. It didn't last a year. [EaterWire Inbox]
