This picture of Zen Grill on 3rd Street hit our inbox this morning. The restaurant lost its right to serve booze, but we think it happened months ago, maybe as far back as April. We tried to check with the liquor board for an explanation, but the enforcement officer is out until tomorrow, and quite frankly, we don't have the patience to deal with that red tape. Since the newer Zen Grill in Westwood (loosely related to this one) closed months ago, maybe the original is/was on its way out, too? And really, how can a mediocre restaurant (note the "B" rating) survive without liquor sales? If anyone knows why the restaurant lost its license or if it's even still open, comment below or hit us through email.
