Bastide's Really Good Booty Call

Those chairs, Alen Lin, 9/14/07

We didn't even get a chance to lay into them as much as we wanted, but we mentioned earlier that the new black chairs at Bastide are as uncomfortable as they are unsightly. Atrocious was our exact word. Today we get this:

New Bastide chairs have been ordered...
Once again, we question our own power: Is that because our big ass was uncomfortable? Well, no. We dined there the other night and chef Manzke told us they're still tweaking the rooms, adding and subtracting furniture as they go along. In comments, Dana from The Knife called them "wretched," and Miss Irene quipped in her Critic's Notebook, "the new metal chairs that have replaced the once luxurious wicker armchairs gave my party grief." So it wasn't just us, but damn good booty call all around, Bastide.
