The Shutter: Zen Zoo, and Then There Was One

BEVERLY HILLS: We were just forwarded an email blast from the Zen Zoo owners:

As a result of restructuring efforts, our store in Beverly Hills has been sold and will close effective September 30, 2007. Over the past 2 years, Zen Zoo has been happy to serve the Beverly Hills community. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to our loyal customers and Zen Zoo's staff members who have helped the business grow and enriched our lives. It is our intention to use the proceeds from the sale of this location to re-open a store in the Brentwood/Santa Monica neighborhood. We have not yet secured a location, but are continuing to pursue every viable option. In the meantime, we encourage you to visit us at our Hollywood location at 1517 N. Vine Street.
The original Brentwood Zen Zoo location closed earlier this summer; at the time, co-owner Alfred Ritter said they lost their lease. Now it sounds more complicated. Hopefully they'll be able to hang on to the last location and/or open another one. So, um, what's going into the Beverly Drive location? It's a nice space (photo from the design firm, FER Studio LLC).
